In Istrolid you design your own unique spaceships from a large number of parts to fit your strategy and play style. With no set units or factions you are free to create a fleet where each ship has its own balanced strengths and weaknesses, from basic fighters and bombers to hulking battleships and speedy destroyers.
Watch a design discussion between Saktoth and Godde that will give you a bit of insight into their thoughts on the game and upcoming changes.
#Istrolid Update 0.46.9 - Part Updates. A bunch of visual, balance, AI and order giving fixes. https://medium.com/@treeform/istrolid-update-0-46-9-part-updates-8986b75c1782...
Introducing the latest mount for your istrolid Arsenal! A new mount that adds a flat bonus of +300 range of its weapon, but has a very narrow arc and can only support 4 modules. Using this can substantially alter the dynamics of a weapon, more that doubling the range of close quarters guns.
Check out the latest update log from istrolid! One of the runner up suggestions from the previous voting & suggestion thread was the ability to keep your AI with the ship. This allows you to save your AI into the fleet section and swap out whole AI fleets. Have multiple AIs you are working on etc.. Units that have the little corner on their name are units that have AI rules attached to them. Units that have the little corner on their name are units that have AI rules attached to them. Our rank experiment is continuing. We had to reset some people’s ranks due to “rank” farming. So don’t rank farm, it’s really easy for us to see who is doing it. We are thinking of ways to roll them out to the 2v2 and 3v3 in the future.
You asked for it and you got it. It was #1 thing requested on the reddit feature voting thread and will be important part of the game moving forward.
We are starting with 1v1 ranked servers first and we want to see how it goes. We will see if there are any problems with it and see how the community will react.
Then we are thinking of rolling it out the rest of the game. Either as a separate team rank or just use the same rank.
I hope you have fun leveling up and showing off your mad skills!

You are looking at the inspiration for istrolid! Here was our interview with treeform. --
"When I was young I played with lego a lot. I was like most kids building random contraption but I also liked to build fleets and armies. I would always build spaceships or tanks or robots. I would build a group of good guys and then whole army of bad guys. Then I would have massive battles where parts would fly off and a huge pile of dead carcasses would remain." Then I even tried to create a system and rules based on WW2 table top games my Dad used to play. You would measure out how far the units would move with a ruler and roll dice to see who would win. Needless to say I was kid and never gotten very far. I did not know about balance or what makes games good. My rules would change mid battle.
With Istrolid I am returning to my roots and fixing all that. I have better understanding of games. Now I have parts that fit the space ships more. Each part has cost and other properties, but most important of all it actually does some thing! There are defined rules and really cool balance and slew of cool mechanics . Yet even though my game has grown up, I still feel like a kid again playing with my lego."

Looks like we've got an update!
This update comes with several small general fixes and a range of balance changes to weapons. These are aimed mostly at normalizing all weapon costs to $5, bringing most weapons down from $10. This should allow stacking low-angle mounts to be more competitive than before when compared to hex-modding, so that we can see more large battleships which stack forward-mounted weaponry, rather than everything being able to fire in 360 and using hexmods.
All weapons now cost $5.
Heavy PD damage 44->60, making it more a versatile PD/weapon hybrid.
Heavy beam 40T-30T
Flak range 350->360, projectil speed 30->27. This helps it slightly when retreating, but makes it easier to dodge.
Autocannon range 500->470 as it benefits a lot from the price drop.
Tesla energy use down 10%. Warhead weight 5T->6T
Phase bomb damage 180->150. AoE 50->75. This should make them less swingy and more reliable, but they still probably need a rework.
Fixes to spelling and wording.
Fixes to login/password reset.
